It was a quiet day in the forest, as everything seemed the norm. The birds were chirping. Deer went about as they did. Though on this day, unbeknown to them, a wanderer was in these woods. A lone black wolf walked about, without any pack nearby whatsoever. He had no pack, for he had lost them long ago. His nose kept to the ground, seeking out a meal. He found some deer tracks and followed them, hoping they'd lead him to maybe a rabbit's hole or even a deer if he was lucky enough.

Ashina was not happy. The scent of a lone male wolf drifted to her nose on the light wind. For once Ashina was sad that she had lost her pack and wished them back for she did not wish to confrount this young wolf alone. Giving a sigh the lone white wolf lifted her head into the wind once more to judge how far the male wolf might be.

The scent of the female wolf did not reach the black one's nose, and he continued on. He saw a deer and smiled, though this would be the hard part. He would find it hard not to surprise it and send it running off. He crouched and crawled forward, slowly, ever so slowly. He smiled that it hadn't noticed him yet.

Ashina came upon the black wolf minuets later and watched from a rocky outcorp as he attempted to stalk a deer. Poor puppy, he better hope the wind does not shift. Or he might lose his prey. Ashina thought watching quietly.

The wolf edged closer, ever closer. However, a wind shifted just as he pounced, and the deer bolted off. However, as a sheer thing of luck, he managed to pounce and kill a rabbit as it had been curious about the wind and had popped out at a bad time. The wolf smiled, feeling relieved, for this was his first meal in awhile. He sat, eating the rabbit quietly. He still didn't know that there was another wolf watching him.

Ashina watched the pup a little longer. she shook her head in amusment that he still had not realized she was there. seeing he was almost done with his meal Ashina decided it was time to make her prescense know. "You pup would get killed acting like that." She commented making her way threw what little trees she had to.

The wolf turned to see the other wolf, immediately on the defensive. But it was a relaxed one, sensing that she had no intention of hurting him, "I'm not a pup, as you can plainly see. Who are you, anyway?" This wasn't meant in a rude fashion, but just a curious one.

Ashina gave a snortting laugh at the male wolf. "You act enough like one." She then sat across from him and answered his question on who she was. "I am Ashina and these are the lands my pack once roamed. Who are you invading my territory." She snarled the last part letting it know she was not happy that he was there.

The wolf didn't bare his teeth, but he did not back down in the least, "My name is Markus, and I have no pack to call my own. I can't even remember if I did." He was not intimidated, though he should've been. He just didn't know any better.

Learning he ment her no harm Ashina relaxed. "It seems we are in the same boat." She commented. "You see my pack was separated I have lost large chunks of my territory to other packs already so I had thought you where here for what little territory I have left." she then stood to head back into the denser part of the forest. "You are welcome to stay. We are both packless so we are kindred in a way." She stated as she left.

Markus decided to follow her, catching up to her and smiling, "Thank you very much, Ashina." His tail wagged reflexively, since he was very happy now. It was like having an older sister that you never knew existed. Well, the good part of it anyway.

Ashina couldn't help but chuckl at Markus for he really did remind her of a puppy. Not being able to help herself Ashina had to speek her thoughts out oud. "You really are just like a puppy." She teased her new companion lightly.

Markus gave an embarrassed look, trying to make his tail stop wagging. He found, however, that he couldn't. He smiled anyway, "I guess I am. But that's isn't too bad, is it?"

"Not at all." Ashina replyed her own tail begining to wag in happiness of not being alone any more. "The den is just up here." She comented as she bushed threw a thick bach of bushes to reach the den.
